Hydraulic ironworker packs powerful punch

Scotchman Industries has added the Dual Operator 150-ton hydraulic ironworker to its metal fabricating line. This ironworker with four built-in stations has a 150-ton capacity punch and a 12" throat depth, which can punch a 1½" hole in 1¼" material and a 2½" hole in 3/4" material.

This machine has a hydraulic system designed with two pumps to ensure full hydraulic pressure and speed to both operations, as well as two valves, two stroke controls, and two remote foot pedals. The DO 150/240-24M offers standard features that include: 6" × 6" × 1/2" angle shear and a rectangular notcher that can notch 3" × 5¾" through 1/2" material. The 24" flat bar shear has a low rake angle and provides the ability to shear up to 1" × 14" and 3/4" × 24" material with minimal distortion. This machine also has the ability to accept optional equipment such as press brakes, rod shear, tube shears, picket tools, and special tooling. DC air compressors run off a 5-hp motor

Oasis Mfg's HP 1000 and XD2000 12-/24-volt DC air compressors attribute their performance to the combination of a 5-horsepower motor directly coupled to a twin-cylinder, 10-cubic- inch York compressor. Both models feature a low-voltage cut-off protection circuit that allows ultra-high performance without overloading the electric motor.

The HP 1000 (High- Performance) produces up to 175 psi and 16 cfm at 100 psi, at 24-volt DC. The XD2000 (Extreme Duty) uses a cooling fan to extend run-time by reducing heat buildup, and it operates at a 90% duty cycle with output of 200 psi and 12.5 cfm at 100 psi at 24-volt DC.

With these compressors, the user can inflate 35×12.50R15 tires (15 to 30 psi) in 35 seconds at 24-volt DC, and 55 seconds at 12-volt DC. Tire beads can be seated and impact wrench can be run off the compressor, without a tank.

The HP 1000 measures 17" × 7" × 10" and weighs 45 pounds. The XD is 20" × 7" × 10", weighs 62 pounds, and mounts anywhere. Both Oasis compressors come with a one-year warranty. For full information, contact Oasis, 22971 Triton Way, #F, Laguna Hills CA 92653.

Switch N Go truck bed conversion system makes trucks in multi-tasking workhorses

Bucks Fabricating manufactures the Switch-N-Go (SNG), a mini roll-off truck bed conversion system that allows contractors to easily switch between many different truck bodies, depending on the type of work they perform.

To turn a regular truck like a Ford F-350 into a multifunctional workhorse, a manufacturers' common subframe should be installed on each truck body that mates with the SNG hoist. The subframe will allow the user to load a truck chassis with a variety of bed options, including dump body, van box (for hauling freight), flatbed (for hauling equipment), a water tank, hydro-seeder, or lawn maintenance landscaper body.

“With our roll-off system, you put the flat-bed flat on the ground, secure it, lift, load, and go,” says Bill Bryan independent factory rep for Bucks. Because the equipment is being drive-loaded onto a flatbed at ground level, there's no running up steep ramps. To increase safety even more, the SNG flatbed includes a little dovetail that tapers down to the ground itself, making the ground to bed transition even smoother.

To install a SNG onto a chassis including installation of fenders and bumper is typically an eight-hour job by a qualified mechanic with proper tools.

Bucks uses a Warn winch, a Venco hoist (dump action) and a Monarch hydraulic power pack. In any city in the United States, one can find parts and a qualified person to service these components. If a failure occurs, service is simple.

FAST Laser helps puts Hypertherm on the cutting edge

FAST Laser (Flow Accelerated Screen Technology) from Hypertherm Inc uses a patent-pending design to create a dual-flow zone that allows higher oxygen assist-gas pressures in the tightly defined cut zone established by beam geometry.

It eliminates uncontrolled burning in the surrounding zone normally induced by increased assist-gas pressures. Accelerated high-velocity oxygen flow along the beam path boosts cut speed by fueling the exothermic reaction. FAST Laser also cuts sensitivity to common plate fabricating conditions and variables.

FAST Laser cutting heads deliver up to a 20% increase in cut speed over standard carbon dioxide laser heads on plate steel. They also expand the capacity and quality range of plate-laser cutting systems.

The Hypertherm LH2100 laser cutting head offers two different focal lengths: 7.5" and 10.0"; the LH2125 adds a 12.5" focal length option for thicker plate.

An optional integrated Mariner CNC controller with on-board FAST Laser process intelligence is also offered. When coupled to process-monitoring optics, standard on LH-series cutting heads, Mariner with FAST Laser delivers improved overall control of the cutting process with fewer system faults and reduced operator involvement. Automatic Dynamic Pierce Control (ADPC) dynamically automatically senses and controls fine piercing to minimize pierce times and initiates each cut once the pierce is complete.

Synthetic steel: More strength, less cost than real steel

Founded by Dr T J Karass in 1954, Caristrap International Inc is a family-run business that specializes in developing, manufacturing, and marketing strapping systems for transportation of goods, as well as for handling specialized applications. Caristrap has focused its abilities on two product groups: Weatherguard and Caritape.

Weatherguard is a simple, high-strength non-metallic strapping system for the transportation and storage of goods. This “synthetic steel flat rope” is provided in various sizes and strengths and is suitable for a range of conditions.

The Caritape line offers versatile systems for specialized applications using non-woven materials. These are made with materials including oriented fibers of heat-resistant, insulating fiberglass, recyclable paper, heat-shrinkable polyester, cotton, or other special materials such as Kevlar and carbon fibers.

Both product lines provide answers for replacing 100% of all sizes of steel strapping with a 20% to 25% savings. Caristrap is considered 2.5 times stronger (energy to break) than steel strapping. In addition, Caristrap products are environmentally safe, user-friendly, lightweight, strong, and do not damage delicate surfaces. Most can be customized through color or logo printing.

Caristrap provides technical advice, training, development, and testing of new systems. For more details, contact Caristrap, 1760 Fortin Blvd, Laval, Quebec, Canada H7S 1N8.
