Philippi-Hagenbuch Inc (PHIL) announces a design for a severe-application off-highway truck body.

In mining and construction environments, heavy-duty off-highway trucks haul a variety of materials. Some environments expose the trucks to severe hauling conditions where the material being hauled is relatively dense (heavy metal ores, oil sands, etc), and can be both extremely abrasive and cohesive. In dumping, as material flows from truck body, the rear portion of the body has more material moving over its surface, thus more wear from any abrasive material flow. For material that is highly abrasive, the disproportionate wearing of the rear portion of the body is extreme and creates ongoing maintenance problems that shorten the useful life of a body.

The PHIL severe-application body is designed to minimize the wear on the rear area of thebody. The rear of the body is shortened and lowered below the natural material flow line. When modified in conjunction with a tailgate, rated body capacity is maintained. The body floor/tailgate combination provides a dump body that hauls and dumps abrasive material with reduced body wear.
