WI-based specialty truck maker Oshkosh Truck Corp, is planning a two-fold expansion of its production capacity, focusing on its fire & rescue and military equipment production lines.

Oshkosh said its Pierce Manufacturing subsidiary is planning to invest $18.5 million to expand its manufacturing facilities in Wisconsin by 130,000 square feet. Construction is scheduled to begin in late summer, with completion expected in early 2006. The expansion was spurred by strong growth in Pierce’s fire, rescue and homeland security apparatus sales over the past two years, the company added.

Oshkosh has also purchased additional manufacturing facilities near its headquarters and has begun upgrading the 300,000-sq-ft production facility for remanufacturing military trucks.

"These investments will help us meet the long-term needs of our customers,” said Robert Bohn, Oshkosh’s chairman, president & CEO.
