Robert James Crail, 70, a long-time trailer industry engineer, died April 14 in his hometown of Knoxville TN. Crail worked for several trailer manufacturers during his career, including Trailmobile and Black Diamond. He also was an engineer for trailer brake suppliers. “When we had a question about trailer brakes, Bob was the person we asked,” said Dick Bowling, president of the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association. He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters; one grandson; a step-grandson; and one great-grandson. Besides serving as an engineering consultant, Crail was involved in the Boy Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, and in recent years had been serving as pastor of Big Spring Presbyterian Church in Friendsville TN.
