Ira Sommer, a founding family member of Kidron Inc, died Sept 19, 2004. He was 85. Born May 30, 1919, he served in the industry for 27 years. He retired from Kidron in 1981 as vice-president of sales after directing sales activity at Kidron from its beginning. Sommer was active in the Truck Body and Equipment Association and the National Truck Equipment Association. His son, Robert Sommer, former president of Kidron, died in 1996. Continuing to serve with the Kidron organization are Ira Sommer's sons John Sommer, executive vice-president, and Jim Sommer, national account sales. A grandchild, John Sommer Jr, serves as sales and marketing manager.
