The NTEA is developing an Early Warning Reporting Guide to educate commercial truck and transportation equipment manufacturers and distributors about how the new reporting requirements mandated by the Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability, and Documentation (TREAD) Act may impact their businesses. The Guide provides an overview of the Early Warning Reporting Requirements adopted in November 2000 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to collect information about potential safety defects in motor vehicles and items of motor vehicle equipment. This timely resource offers an explanation of the requirements and answers questions about issues most likely to arise for the commercial truck and transportation equipment industry. Materials include a 408-page, three-ring binder containing Early Warning Reporting Requirements; TREAD Act Congressional Report; Screen Shots of Reporting Spreadsheet Templates as well as two CD-ROMs containing presentation proceedings from an Early Warning Reporting Requirements Workshop held at the NTEA Convention in March 2003. NTEA members can pre-order the Early Warning Reporting Guide by May 14 and pay only $195; $450 nonmembers. When ordering after May 14, the Guide retails for $225 members; $450 nonmembers. For more information or to order, call 1-800-441-NTEA or e-mail [email protected].
