LAMBERET, the French manufacturer of refrigerated vehicles, had a lot to talk about at the IAA in Hanover. It builds a complete range of refrigerated vehicles from one cubic meter to 100 m3 cargo capacity (35 cubic feet to 3,530 cubic feet). It built 2,800 refrigerated semitrailers in the previous year (2003). Total production was 6,500 refrigerated vehicles, and sales reached 182 million euros ($228 million).

But the biggest news was that it has a new subsidiary in Germany. Kerstner GmbH in Gross-Rohrheim near Frankfurt specializes in the manufacture of insulated vehicles and the refrigeration units for them, especially in vans. Kerstner is the market leader in refrigerated vans with a maximum capacity of 3.5 tonnes (7,700 lb). Kerstner is the manufacturer of the insulation and refrigeration for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, which was introduced into the USA.

Besides its dominance in the area of small delivery vans, Kerstner offers Lamberet another big advantage — a wider distribution in Germany. To mark its foothold in Germany, the name of Lamberet Kühlfahrzeuge GmbH was changed to Lamberet Deutschland GmbH, which includes Frigo-Rent Services GmbH and Kerstner GmbH. Michael Höll, former director of Lamberet Kühlfahrzeuge GmbH, was named manager of the head office of Central European Commercial Operations. Ralph Kerstner remains head of Kerstner Fahrzeugklimatechnik GmbH and will run the Lamberet Group integrated insulation business unit.
