After a banner year featuring higher revenues and profits, Phoenix-based truckload carrier Knight Transportation is opening three new facilities in the Northwest and upper Midwest.

Chairman & CEO Kevin Knight said the new locations include a facility in Seattle, a refrigerated service center in Green Bay, WI, and a brokerage service center in Kansas City, KS – increasing the carrier’s network to 27 service centers. He said 21 now provide dry van services, three provide refrigerated services, and three provide brokerage services.

“The expansion of our service center network enhances the value proposition to our customers and creates attractive driving jobs for qualified drivers in Seattle and Green Bay,” Knight said. “Our expansion is not limited to the physical extension of our nationwide reach; we are also expanding our services offered with the addition of our expanding refrigerated and brokerage services.”

The expansion comes hard on the heels on good numbers for Knight. In 2005, the carrier’s total revenue increased 28.2% to $566.8 million, while net income increased 28.9% to $61.7 million.
