KNAPHEIDE Mfg held a special dinner for its distributors during the NTEA convention in Indianapolis.

The evening featured a performance by singer Crystal Gayle and recognition of the company's top distributors-those companies that sold at least 150 Knapheide service bodies and other products during 1998. The 150 matches the number of years that the Quincy, Illinois, truck body manufacturer has been in business. The company was started in 1848.

Knapheide welcomed another four distributors into its 1848 Club. Joining the 1848 Club for the first time were Hi-Tech Truck Rigging & Equipment, Houston TX; Pacific Utility Equipment, Sparks NV; Seely Equipment & Supply, Farmingdale NJ; and Truck Equipment Inc, Des Moines IA.

Second-time winners were Cherokee Truck Equipment, Chattanooga TN; Fontaine Truck Equipment, Dallas TX; Fontaine Truck Equipment Co., Ft Lauderdale FL; General Truck Body, Houston TX; and Jim Hardee Equipment, Inc., Lakeland FL

Third-time winners were Aerial Truck Equipment, Olive Branch MS; Allied Truck Equipment, Grand Rapids MI; Carter Industries, Redwood City CA; Fontaine Truck Equipment Co., Indianapolis IN; Idaho Truck Specialties LLC, Meridian ID; and Midwest Truck Equipment, Wichita KS.

Earning 1848 Club membership for the fourth time were Clark Truck Equipment, Albuquerque NM; D & H Truck Equipment, San Diego CA; Dixie Trailer Equipment Mfg, Ashland VA; Dixie Upfittings Inc, Fayetteville NC; Knapheide Truck Equipment Center, St Charles MO; Park-Built Body Company, Sylvester GA; Simpson Equipment Corporation, Wilson NC; and Wilbar Truck Equipment, Portsmouth VA.

Five-time winners were American Cargo Corporation, Goshen IN; American Commercial Truck Inc, Tampa FL; Fontaine Truck Equipment, Louisville KY; Lodi Equipment, West Sacramento CA; Manning Equipment, Louisville KY; and Moxley's Truck Equipment, Street MD.

Winning for the sixth time were Fontaine Truck Equipment, Charlotte NC; J. C. Madigan, Inc, Harvard MA; and Kaffenbarger Truck Equipment, Cincinnati OH.

Seven-time members were Baker Truck Equipment, Hurricane WV; Bennett Truck Equipment, Orlando FL; Keystone Truck Equipment, New Britain PA; Lee Transport Equipment, Columbia SC; Madison Truck Equipment, Madison WI; Stewart's Truck Equipment, Hopkinsville KY; and Truck Utilities & Mfg, St Paul MN.
