The Köegel Half-Traxx is a new generation of modular dump bodies using bolts or rivets to fasten the floor structure to the sidewalls. In its bi-metal version, the floor is of 6mm (.236") Hardox 450 steel. The walls, front end, and rear gate are of aluminum. The 21m3 (28 cubic yard) body is 7.3 m (24 feet) long. Weight is 5,900 kg (13,000 lb) on a steel chassis.

Köegel says this steel-bottom version is capable of hauling heavier materials including individual pieces weighing up to 60 kg (132 lb). The lighter version uses an aluminum floor structure bolted or riveted to an aluminum upper body. It would be suitable for lighter material, sand and gravel. The same modular components are used for the aluminum-steel model and aluminum-aluminum version.

The steel chassis for both models is KTL primed using Köegel's new KTL system (E-coating) with zinc phosphate coating. The chassis also has an automatic lowering system that lowers the trailer onto the air bag console for greater stability during dumping.
