Jerr-Dan Corp has introduced its newest light-duty wrecker, the MPL 40. This versatile new model features an extendable recovery boom and underlift system and a choice of three wheel-grid systems:

Self-loader style including low-profile crossbar, patented Locklink over-center L-arm locking mechanism, and 8,000-lb-capacity single or dual winch.

Manual pivoting T-37 L-Arm style with manual-hydraulic controls and 8,000-lb-capacity single or dual winch.

Manual L-Arm style with manual hydraulic controls and 8,000-lb-capacity single or dual winch.
The 8-ton-capacity integrated boom has an all-hydraulic operating system, a hydraulic extendable recovery boom with dual elevation cylinders with holding valves, and a precision power tilt-and-fold underlift.
With the boom in the proper position, there is a 4.5” profile for the crossbar. This lets towers get under sports cars and other low-slung vehicles with less risk of damage to the bumper or fender. The company also offers a negative-tilt feature that allows easier towing of vehicles in a ditch or downhill from the wrecker.
For easier operation, the crossbar features a self-centering, friction adjustable plunger that keeps the bar straight while positioning it under a vehicle.
One of the most important safety features of the MPL-40 is the visibility it provides. Because the winch is below the rear window, the operator in the cab has a full view of the bar and maneuvering of the underlift crossbar into position.
