The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2004, along with partner GE Fanuc Automation, is bringing the Emerging Technology Center (ETC) to the show this year. The ETC, a showcase of manufacturing technologies that are in development, will be front and center in the Grand Ballroom of the south building of McCormick Place.
Invited entrepreneurs are expected to show innovative and enabling technologies in the areas of process, micro machines, nanotechnology, and software. Ultra-small-scale manufacturing, new automation techniques, cryogenic and dry machining, smart machines, and alternative processes such as specialized lasers, friction stir welding, and hydroforming are expected to play a role in the ETC.
