Hardwire LLC, a developer and supplier of advanced composite armor solutions, has received a commitment from Navistar's military affiliate --Navistar Defense, LLC -- to provide armor components for NAVISTAR's MaxxProTM Plus Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. Terms of this agreement are undisclosed.

Hardwire's solutions were a product of development work first initiated by Hardwire for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which were later incorporated into design developments led by the Army Research Laboratory/ATC at Aberdeen, Maryland, and supported by Hardwire's supply chain partner, DSM Dyneema LLC. The armor upgrades are designed to provide additional protection against emerging threats.

"We're extremely pleased to have been selected by Navistar to supply our armor solutions on their category-leading vehicle, and to play a part providing extra levels of protection to our valued warfighters overseas," stated Hardwire CEO George Tunis. "This is the culmination of well more than a year of work designing and developing solutions to protect against these new threats, and we're thankful for the continued support of DARPA, Aberdeen, and DSM Dyneema - who all share in the same goals.”

The work will be completed at Hardwire's Development Center in Pocomoke City, MD and in its newly-constructed armor manufacturing facility at the same location. Additional fabrication work will be supported by Hardwire business partners, as required.
