In 1954, Richard F Reinke created a small farming business just outside of Deshler NE. Fifty years later, that business has developed into a major manufacturer of over-the-road trailer/intermodal chassis equipment: Reinke Mfg Co Inc.

Reinke celebrated its 50th anniversary June 20, 2004, at its plant in Deshler. The day was commemorated with events that honored employees, dealers, the community, and customers. More than 2,000 guests enjoyed a free luncheon catered by the Deshler Lions Club, along with an open house and facility tours. More than 400 employees received embroidered jackets as a gift for their hard work and dedication.

The business began in an abandoned chicken house on the farm where Richard Reinke, who died in June 2003, assembled his first product for sale: glued-laminated arches for many types of buildings. Today, the Reinke headquarters covers more than 80 acres.

Reinke's strong foundation helped the company successfully recover from a deadly tornado that ripped through Deshler in 2003, and the firm is now experiencing record sales. Reinke employs more than 400 people and has 52 international distributors.
