Great Dane Limited Partnership announced July 1 that it completed its acquisition of the Trailmobile Trailer LLC plants in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Charleston, Illinois June 18.

The purchase includes raw material inventories, machinery and equipment and the intellectual property of the company.

“We plan to initiate production of Great Dane vans in Jonesboro in the fourth quarter of this year,” said Phill Pines, COO, Great Dane Limited Partnership. “Due to the current weak market conditions of the trailer industry, there are no immediate plans to open Charleston.

The purchase of Trailmobile Trailer LLC is the second major acquisition by Great Dane in less than a year. In November 2001, Great Dane acquired the Danville, Pennsylvania, and Abbeville, South Carolina plants of Strick Trailer Corporation.

“These new locations are strategically located relative to our existing plants, allowing us to better serve our diverse customer base,” commented Kit Hammond, president. “We are thrilled to make these investments to promote our future business.”

Great Dane Trailers manufactures dry van, refrigerated, and platform trailers. The company has headquarters in Savannah, Georgia, and Chicago, Illinois and operates nine manufacturing plants in the United States. With distribution points across North and South America, Great Dane markets its products through a network of company-owned branches, full-line independent dealers, as well as parts-only independent dealers.
