Formtek Inc, a subsidiary of Mestek Inc, recently completed the acquisition of three manufacturers serving the metalforming and material handling industries. The companies — Yoder Mfg, Krasny-Kaplan Corp, and Mentor AGVS — were purchased June 30, 2001, as part of SNS Properties of Warrenville Heights OH.

Yoder designs roll-forming and tube/pipemaking systems. Krasny-Kaplan designs and builds heavy-duty automated material handling systems, and Mentor AGVS supplies laser-guided automated guided vehicle systems for unmanned movement of materials in manufacturing and distribution facilities. All three join the Formtek family of companies that design and manufacture high-speed machinery and systems for processing sheet metal into precision parts. Formtek also includes Iowa Precision Industries, Lockformer, Cooper-Weymouth-Peterson, Rowe, Dahlstrom Industries, and Hill Engineering.

In a related development, Formtek will relocate its Dahlstrom Industries division from Schiller Park IL to Warrenville Heights, merging its operations into those of Yoder. Dahlstrom, founded in 1946, designs and builds roll-forming, wingforming, and material handling systems for sheet metal forming and fabricating. Its B&K and Gripall product lines also will be merged into Yoder.

The move is expected to be substantially complete by October 2001.
