International Truck and Engine Corporation joins Ford Motor Company to announce the new Power Stroke Diesel V-8 engine.

The new Power Stroke generates 325 horsepower and 560 foot-pounds of torque – an increase of 10 foot-pounds since its pre-introduction in May. New for the mid-2003 model year Ford F-Series Super Duty pickups and Excursion, the direct-injected Power Stroke Diesel powertrain combines the enhanced 6.0-liter engine with a five-speed automatic Torqshift transmission for increased power, fuel economy and a smoother ride.

The concept Power Stroke Diesel V-8, featuring advanced fuel injection technology for improved fuel economy, cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) for cleaner emissions and the EVRTTM electronic turbocharger was first shown with the Mighty F-350 Tonka concept truck unveiled at the 2002 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
