Diesel prices bounce back

The national average price of a gallon of diesel jumped 4.3 cents to $2.485 for the week ending Jan. 8, according to the Energy Information Administration.

All regions posted a price hike, but California took the hardest hit with an increase of 6.3 cents, to $2.601/gal. The New England region posted the highest diesel prices overall, at $2.676 on a 3.1-cent increase.

In addition to the steadiest prices, the Rocky Mountain region can claim the lowest prices--$2.421, after a 2.9-cent increase.
