The average price for a gallon of diesel nationally fell 5 cents to $2.85 for the week of August 13, according to the Energy Information

The average price for a gallon of diesel nationally fell 5 cents to $2.85 for the week of August 13, according to the Energy Information Administration. Compared to a year ago, the price is down 7.11%.

The West Coast was the most expensive region at $3.05, followed by the rest of the western states at $3.02. The lowest price was in the Gulf Coast region at $2.77, traile4d closely by the lower Atlantic states at $2.78.

Compared to a year ago, the biggest decline came in the Rocky Mountain region (29 cents).
