ESAB Cutting Systems announces that Caterpillar has purchased three Alpharex laser cutting systems for its manufacturing facility in Torreon, Mexico. Alpharex is a gantry-type CNC laser cutting system designed for cutting nested parts and consistent cut quality over a large working surface. Offered with a choice of a 3- or 4-kw Trumpf CO2 laser, Alpharex can cut plate up to 1" thick and up to 17 feet wide.
Luis Martin Martinez, general manager of Caterpillar Torreon, says the facility fabricates steel parts used by other Caterpillar plants to produce the company's line of construction equipment.
