In response to the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11th, the American Welding Society (AWS) has created a special relief fund – Welding Thanks America’s Heroes. The purpose of this new relief fund is to provide the welding industry with a vehicle to help the victims of the attacks on New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

“We are shocked by this cowardly attack on innocent Americans,” said AWS President Richard Arn announcing the formation of the fund. “The American Welding Society was created after times of international conflict and it again heeds the call to provide help to the nation in times of need. The Welding Thanks America’s Heroes fund gives welding professionals everywhere a way to show terrorists that they will never defeat the American spirit,” Arn added.

Donations to the AWS relief fund can be made to Welding Thanks America’s Heroes, c/o American Welding Society, 550 NW LeJeune Road, Miami, FL 33126. All contributions will be forwarded to the American Red Cross and Americares, charitable organizations providing direct assistance to the attack victims and their families. The American Welding Society is the largest organization in the world dedicated to advancing the science, technology and application of materials joining. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, AWS serves over 50,000 members in the United States and around the world. Additional information is available on the AWS webpage at www.aws.org.
