The ultimate in security systems for curtainside trailers was shown at the IAA in Hanover by the Orten Company, who licensed a French design from Libner. The Orten Safe Server has the usual full sliding curtain on each side, but no buckles to tension the sheet vertically. The sheet is fastened to very wide sliding stiffeners or posts that are punched with slots for material handling bars and straps or second decking, and also punched with keyholes for garment hanger rods.

When the curtainside is opened, the wide posts fold with the curtain and assist in making the typical accordion folds. When closed and tensioned lengthwise, the posts stiffen the sidewall against falling freight. The wide posts also provide load security against thieves who might try to cut the curtain fabric.

A big advantage to the Libner system is rapid opening and closing. Since there are no buckles to secure, the side can be fully opened in 30 seconds. The system adds 500 kg (1,100 lb) to the weight of the trailer. Orten GmbH & Co KG, Gewerbegebiet, D-54470 Bernkastel-Kues, Germany; Libner SA,Z I, F-79400 Saint-Max-Maixent-L'ecole, France.
