Trailer tire problems generate most calls

Apr 1, 2008 12:00 PM

According to The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, 65% of its roadside calls for repairs/replacements are for problems with trailer tires. Goodyear bases this figure on data gathered from its emergency call center in a one-year period.

Data from the tire manufacturer shows that problems with both right rear trailer tires generated the most calls (10.3% for the inner and 15.0% for the outer tire in a dual-wheel configuration). For both tractors and trailers, the inside dual wheels were cited in 37% of incidents and the outside dual wheels in 49%.

Passenger-side wheels accounted for 58% of repair/replacement calls, versus 42% for driver-side wheels.
