May 18, 2006 4:14 PM

ArvinMeritor Inc. announced today the opening of a new warehouse and distribution center in Monterrey, Mexico, to serve customers of its Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) business. The warehouse has doubled the capacity of the company's previous storage and distribution site in Escobedo, Mexico, which it replaces.

"We're committed to the continued growth of our commercial vehicle aftermarket business in North America, and are investing in its expansion with the opening of this new, strategically located distribution center in Monterrey," said Joe Mejaly, vice president and general manager of CVA. "It's good news for our customers and our business, plus it symbolizes our confidence in the health and growth of this important market for the long term."

The 30,515-square-foot facility will include a 2,690-square-foot office area and will be outfitted with the latest inventory and material-handling equipment in both its shipping and receiving areas for improved customer service. The new Monterrey facility employs 28 people, including much of the previous workforce from the company's nearby Escobedo distribution site. When fully operational, the Monterrey location will handle a portfolio of 4,800 items distributed under the brands Meritor, Dirona and Sudisa brands.

Also in Monterrey, Mexico, CVS business group has operated Sisamex (formerly Dirona) for over 30 years, where axle, driveline, and brake components are manufactured for OE vehicles and aftermarket usage. The market-leading operation includes a world-class technical center, complete engineering support and manufacturing activities - all of which support the company's NAFTA facilities. Sisamex is a joint venture between ArvinMeritor and Grupo Quimmco, a highly-reputable, long-standing supplier in the Mexican market.
