Tax-exempt customers now have the ability to purchase Navistar’s PARTSMART Parts online without a tax penalty. New functionality within the website’s checkout process allows companies and agencies with tax-exempt status to make purchases easily.

“This new opportunity within the partsmartparts.com website opens up e-commerce to a wider segment of customers,” said Kim Speciale, senior marketing manager for Navistar Parts. “With a simple form to fax, a tax-exempt customer can establish themselves with Navistar Parts as a tax-exempt customer and save on their parts purchases.”

Tax-exempt customers include fleets that transport over state lines, resellers, government agencies and nonprofits.

Within the e-commerce process, tax-exempt organizations are prompted to complete a tax-exempt form. This form, and proof of tax-exempt status, will be used to change the customer’s profile within the partsmartparts.com site, and will automatically eliminate sales tax from all e-commerce purchases. State tax exempt status is required; federal tax-exempt status is not accepted.

“The tax-exempt functionality makes e-commerce for truck and bus parts more accessible to a greater percentage of our customers,” said Patti Corso, e-Commerce Catalog Manager for Navistar Parts. “This one-time process will open a growing selection of online parts ordering to new customers throughout the United States.”
