Diesel Price Skyrockets 11.4 Cents

The average price for a gallon of diesel nationally went up 11.4 cents to $2.79 for the week ending April 1, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Virtually the entire country experienced a double-digit increase, with the biggest increase coming in the Midwest -- 12.5 cents to $2.78. The smallest came in California (7 cents), but the region remained the most expensive at $2.939. The Lower Atlantic region had the cheapest price -- $2.739 after a 10.9-cent hike.
