Feb 1, 2005 2:01 PM

Diesel prices climbed for the fourth week in the row as the national average rose 3.3 cents to $1.992 per gallon last week, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Prices climbed nationwide, but the biggest average jump was in the Rocky Mountain region, up 6.2 cents to $1.946. The Gulf Coast recorded the smallest average increase at 2.1 cents to $1.94— also making it the cheapest region for diesel. It may be prudent to avoid fillups in New England when possible, as it averaged $2.225 on a 4.5-cent hike.
